Hayley Hoffman Presentation Monday 14 October 2024
Using Polyvagal Practices in Imago to rewire and transform old automatic defense mechanisms that get in the way of connection.
One of the challenges in therapy and especially in couples work is coming up against people’s defenses /protections which can jump in so swiftly and strongly.
This presentation will focus on some creative ways that we can work with our clients’ defenses as well as our own.
PRESENTER : Hayley Hoffman, LPC, Advanced IRT from The Imago Center of Washington, DC.
Hayley has a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Northwestern University. She is an Advanced Imago Clinician and experienced Presenter of both the Getting the Love You Want and Keeping the Love You Find Workshops. She has trained extensively with Deb Dana in Polyvagal Theory and the applications of this theory in therapy and is certified in the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP).
She is trained as a psychodynamic clinical counsellor focusing on helping couples and individuals to live relationally. She works from an empathic stance, helping clients through the process of noticing, identifying, and understanding patterns of behaviour that, while once were useful coping mechanisms are no longer working. Together with her clients, they explore attachment meaning, past and current dynamics, somatic experiences and ways to consciously connect in relationships with self and others.
