Imago Australia Conference

        AIRTA CONFERENCE

5 International Trainers
5 Countries
 & 1 Beach!

15-18 October 2026 - Cottesloe Beach, Perth, Western Australia

Imago Australia was formed 21 years ago in Perth and to celebrate this auspicious event, we are running a conference in Western Australia.  A time of great joy and celebration, alongside rich opportunities for learning and connection.

Our conference theme celebrates not only our 21st anniversary, but also Imago by the Beach. We have chosen a venue that honours both nature and learning - set just a few meters from the shoreline - inviting connection, reflection and inspiration in a truly beautiful coastal setting.

In addition to the conference, we are offering pre-conference and post conference workshops.  To help accommodate different budgets and interests, participants may choose from several options: conference or workshop-only, conference plus one workshop, or conference plus both workshops.

Details of the workshops and links for booking on the different packages are provided on this page.

 Keynote Speakers & Workshop Presenters

Hayley Hoffman

As a polyvagal-informed Imago Relationship Therapist, Hayley Hoffman, MA, LPC, helps individuals and couples strengthen communication, deepen connection and cultivate safety in the space between—where we meet ourselves, the world, and one another. Her relational approach integrates attachment theory, somatic awareness, and polyvagal principles to support clients in understanding their adaptive patterns and practicing regulation as the foundation for co-regulation. Hayley works with clients through life transitions, generational healing, and the ongoing growth of relational skills that foster authenticity and resilience. She offers couples therapy, individual sessions, private intensives, group experiences, and the Safe and Sound Protocol, weaving education with experiential learning. Hayley’s warm, grounded presence invites clients into curiosity, compassion, and more conscious connection with themselves and those they love. She is a staff therapist at the Imago Center of DC and a consultant for The Rhythm of Regulations Polyvagal Foundations course with Deb Dana.
After 18 years together (13 Imago years!), Hayley and David have a blended family with 5 adult kids, three grandchildren and 9 dogs, collectively.

Orli Wahrman

Orli is a Senior Faculty member of the Imago International Training Institute (IITI), Clinical Professor at Daybreak University, a clinical social worker, family and couples therapist and supervisor, sex therapist and supervisor and Somatic Experiencing practitioner.  With decades of clinical and teaching experience, Orli works internationally with couples, therapists, and professional communities. Her work integrates Imago Relationship Therapy, trauma-informed practice and a polyvagal-informed perspective, with a focus on cultivating safety in the “space between.”
Orli brings cultural fluency and dialogue-based understanding to her leadership and clinical work. She has served as Co-Chair of Imago Israel and has held multiple leadership roles within the international Imago community.
She has devoted her life to developing the Communologue, an Imago-informed process for safe communication in group and intergroup settings, and has written about its application in family therapy. Her doctoral research examines the impact of Imago Relationship Therapy on the parent–child relationship. She is also the co-author of Becoming Myself.
Orli has been married to Gideon for 38 years, and is the proud Grandmother of 2.

Kobus van der Merwe

Kobus is a Senior Faculty member, Clinical Professor at Daybreak University, an Imago Relationship Therapist, trainer and supervisor from South Africa. For more than 30 years, he has worked in the field of Imago Relationship Therapy, with a strong focus on the relational paradigm and on training therapists to work from the healing space between people. He teaches internationally, including in Australia, Europe, the United States, New Zealand, South Korea, and South Africa. Kobus brings clinical depth, relational clarity, and decades of experience to his teaching.
In 2016, he was awarded the coveted Harville Hendrix Award for Clinical Excellence, honoring his outstanding impact on the field of Imago Relationship Therapy.
Through his facilitation, therapists are drawn into spaces of both professional mastery and personal growth—shaping them into guides who help others co-create safety, resonance, and lasting relational aliveness.
AIRTA has had the wonderful opportunity to experience his training over many years so are very excited to host him yet again.
He has been married to Anita for 34 years and is the proud grandfather of four.

Lea Simone Bogner

Lea Simone Bogner is an Imago couples counsellor, coach, and Imago Consultant. For over two decades she has accompanied individuals, couples, leaders, and teams — across several countries and languages, passionate about development and unfolding — in each person and in the space between them.
Imago is the foundation of her work with couples, individuals, and groups. In recent years Internal Family Systems has expanded her practice: supporting clients to meet their own inner world with compassion, build self-regulation and self-leadership, and widen the space between impulse and response. Originally a performing artist, she has brought voice development, breath, and bodywork into her practice from the beginning. Especially In her work with leaders and organizations, she draws on her background in intrinsic motivation and values-based culture development, informed by the work of Steven Reiss and Richard Barrett.
As an Imago supervisor she accompanies facilitators on their path to certification, deepening their practice with the Imago dialogue. She has been actively involved in the national and international Imago community, co-led the Glow Circle for two years, and served until early 2026 as President of Imago Austria.
Having lived in Switzerland, Holland, the US and Austria, Lea speaks German, Swiss German, English, and Dutch. For the past thirteen years she has lived with her partner Jürgen and four children aged 17 to 23 in an international patchwork family.
