The Space Between, Childhood Wounds and the Question of Self
A PRE-TALK WITH ORLI WAHRMAN
In this thought-provoking pre-talk, Orli Wahrman explores one of the most profound and provocative shifts in Harville Hendrix’s later work: the movement from a developmental model toward the theory of The Space Between.
The presentation will explore questions such as:
- Can healing emerge through the relational field itself?
- What happens to developmental wounds within present-moment connection?
- And if the “space between” becomes primary, can we really separate it from the self and the developmental experiences each person brings into relationship?
Rather than positioning developmental understanding and relational field theory as opposites, this talk suggests that the self, its history, and its longings continue to live inside the relational space and inevitably shape what emerges between partners.
Bringing together Imago theory, relational thinking, developmental understanding, and clinical reflection, the presentation explores how developmental history continues to live inside the relational field, and how healing may emerge through dialogue, safety, differentiation, and new relational experience.
Following the talk, participants will engage in a Group as Expert process, inviting personal and relational exploration of the themes presented.
A reflective, experiential, and relationally rich conversation about the evolving heart of Imago.
As this is an extensive topic, she will further expand on this question at the AIRTA Conference in October 2026.
